Ryan always had a passion for adventure and the wilderness. As a child he was involved in Boy Scouts & enjoyed annual summer backpacking trips with his family. Currently he is a Life Guard & teaches fitness classes in his hometown of Ocean City, NJ. Ryan is also a Licensed Real Estate Agent.
Ryan is a recent graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School – Educator Course, held in the Bear Tooth Mountains of Montana. This twenty three day course included traveling with twelve of his peers through rivers, burn areas, boulder fields & deep snow. The leadership & communication skills Ryan acquired remain a part of his everyday life. During the expedition, Ryan became a Leave No Trace Master Educator while practicing the outdoor ethics & principles associated with the program.
His Wilderness First Responder Certification led him to Harvard University’s Medical Basecamp Team during the 2011 Freshman Orientation backpacking trip. In 2012 Ryan traveled to Tanzania, Africa with ten high school students from Concord, Massachusetts. Through teamwork & dedication, the group was able to summit Mount Rungwe & Mount Mwanihana, help a small village construct a bathroom, paint classrooms & pour concrete flooring. Most recently Ryan led thirteen high school students from the North East to Utsunomiya, Japan. The group participated in various service work including teaching English classes, building a garden for an effected area of the tsunami & participating in a Charity Run.
Ryan’s personal travels have taken him throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and Peru. In his free time Ryan enjoys bike rides on the boardwalk and spending time with his family. He is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to guide through Valley to Summit and is eager to share his knowledge of the wilderness.
