Whitewater Rafting Package - Lehigh River

VTS partnered with a venerable whitewater rafting company to deliver the best dam release whitewater rafting adventure package on the Lehigh River in the Poconos Mountains.

On dam-release days, water is released from the Francis E. Walter dam in the Pocono Mountains and the Lehigh River becomes inundated with an enormous amount of water, creating optimal conditions for class II-III rapids.


  • 3-4 hrs rafting rapids up to class II-III

Dam Release Whitewater Rafting Trips offer the perfect combination of outdoor adventure and whitewater action, all nestled in the pristine surroundings of the Lehigh Gorge State Park. Your guides, in kayaks, will show you the best routes, and share your day of outdoor fun and surprises.

After lunch and paddling to the end, a shuttle bus returns you to the Rafting Center where you can take a free hot shower, change into dry cloths and use your 50% discount voucher towards an additional food purchase at the snack bar.

  • 3 to 4 hours on the river | 5 to 6 hours total (Upper Lehigh Trip)*
  • # of People per Raft: usually between 4-7 people per raft
  • Minimum Age: 9
  • Weather Concerns: Except for rare instances, these trips run in most weather conditions – sun, rain, wind and most everything in between.

*Duration is subject to a number of factors including weather conditions, river flow, and the overall pace of the group.
